

BORONGAN CITY – PSA Eastern Samar successfully conducted its first presentation of Preliminary Results of the 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) to officials of LGU Borongan on 15 July 2025 at the Mayor’s Conference Room, Borongan City Hall, Borongan City. The said activity was participated by representatives from the City Planning and Development Office, City Population Office and Borongan City Administrator.
City Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan C. Agda was represented by Mark Lucio Cortado of the City Population Office, who delivered the welcome message to officially commence the event. In his remarks, Mr. Cortado extended the LGU’s heartfelt congratulations to the Philippine Statistics Authority – Eastern Samar for the successful implementation of the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) in the province. He also lauded the PSA’s dedication and hard work in ensuring the program's success, emphasizing its vital role in evidence-based planning and local development.
During the activity, Supervising Statistical Specialist Suzanne B. Amosco and Senior Statistical Specialist Randy G. Ador provided a detailed discussion of the Preliminary Results of the 2024 CBMS. Their presentation included findings on various socio-economic indicators aligned with the country’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as access to electricity, clean water, and the internet, as well as the use of clean fuels.
Thereafter, Atty. Mark Gregory Afable of the City Administrator’s Office highlighted in his closing remarks the importance of being guided by such data as it provides a valuable opportunity for the LGU to evaluate the effectiveness of their project implementations and for them to make necessary adjustments based on the needs of the public.
