29 July 2025 – Caibiran, Biliran. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Biliran successfully concluded its province-wide series of 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) data highlights presentations with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Caibiran. The activity provided local officials with an overview of the municipality’s socio-economic conditions while awaiting the release of the complete CBMS report.
The session, facilitated by Registration Officer I Virgilio L. Cinco, Jr., highlighted key indicators aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) such as electricity, sanitation, education, internet connectivity, and employment. LGU officials actively engaged in the discussion, raising points on how the data could be best applied to address pressing community needs.
During the open forum, Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer II Armee S. Rostata, raised concerns on the accessibility of CBMS data, noting that current procedures require several documentary requirements which may delay its timely use for local planning. In response, PSA Biliran suggested that an amendment to the existing Data Privacy Manual could help streamline the process. Such an adjustment would allow LGUs like Caibiran to utilize the information more efficiently while still ensuring that privacy and security standards are upheld.
The turnover of the CBMS data to all municipalities in Biliran is scheduled on the 15th of August 2025, providing LGU Caibiran with a stronger foundation for evidence-based governance and inclusive development initiatives.
