Northern Samar’s Economy Records a 3.7 Percent Increase in 2023
The economy of Northern Samar grew by 3.7 percent in 2023. This represents an increase in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the province from PhP 44.32 billion in 2022 to PhP 45.96 billion in 2023.
Among the 16 industries, the fastest growth was observed in Transportation and storage with 28.2 percent. This was followed by Accommodation and food storage activities with 25.5 percent, and Other services with 21.1 percent. On the other hand, Agriculture, forestry, and fishing posted a decline of 6.9 percent. (Figure 1)

In terms of share to regional economy, Northern Samar had the fifth largest share accounting for 8.78 percent. Meanwhile, Leyte accounted for the biggest share of 49.9 percent. (Figure 2)
