11 February 2025 – EASTERN SAMAR – In celebration of Civil Registration Month, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) launched the first-ever joint registration drive for the National ID and the Birth Registration Assistance Project (BRAP) mobile registration at Brgy. Caisawan, Balangkayan, Eastern Samar.

The National ID registration team was on-site to ensure the enrollment of unregistered individuals in the National ID system, with a primary focus on children under five years old (Rehistro Bulilit). The Civil Registrar staff and Birth Registration Agent played a key role in facilitating the event. The DSWD 4Ps team, along with 4Ps beneficiaries, also participated in the National ID registration and authentication process.
An informative session was also held during the event. RO I Leonardo N. Rañola discussed the importance of civil registration, while PhilSys RO II Mary Joy B. Beato provided valuable insights into the key features of the National ID, its various formats, the authentication process, and the process in downloading the digital National ID. In addition, digital National ID leaflets were distributed to clients, providing them with clear instructions on how to download their digital National ID.

Barangay residents, along with people from nearby areas, benefited from the convenience of this event, as it was held locally, eliminating the need for them to travel to the municipality for registration. This initiative aimed to improve civil registration and ensure access to vital government services.

Following this successful initiative, a registration drive is scheduled for Cabay, Balangkayan on February 13, 2025, with additional drives to be scheduled in other municipalities across the province.

The National ID mobile registration will continue in other municipalities within the province. Additionally, a fixed PSA registration center is available Monday to Saturday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, at the PSA Office, JB Japzon Bldg., Circumferential Road, Brgy. Balud, Borongan, Eastern Samar. The center offers National ID registration, demographic updates, printing of paper IDs, and assistance with downloading the digital National ID.
