The Philippine Statistics Authority RSSO 8 officials were among those who witnessed the marriage of 64 lucky couples during the “Mayor Lemy’s Kasalang Bayan” held at the Abuyog Mini-Gymnasium, Abuyog, Leyte last 30 April 2024. OIC Chief of the Civil Registration and Administrative Support Division (CRASD), Ms. Rose A. Ballera witnessed and accompanied Abuyog Municipal Mayor Hon. Lemuel Gin K. Traya and PSA Leyte Chief Statistical Specialist, Ms. Sheryl Ann A. Jamisola as the couples walk down the aisle, all properly dressed for the occasion and full of happiness as they exchange their vows. The event was the very first Mass Wedding under the leadership Mayor Traya and he considers this as very memorable as it coincides with his birthday. The couples also received their respective bottle of red wine and cake that they can bring home to share with their loved ones. Among the 64 couples, Benraph Rebao and Ryna Sugano happily sealed their marriage with a kiss as they agreed to have their photos and story featured in this release.

The PSA extends its warmest congratulations to all the newly-weds and the Local Government Unit of Abuyog, Leyte and the Local Civil Registry Office (LCRO) thru its Municipal Civil Registrar, Atty. Madilyn M. Merano, for the successful Mass Wedding. This endeavor will finally pave the way for them to be known as legally married and for their children to be legitimized in civil registry records.
