30 July 2025 – Lawaan, Eastern Samar – Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Eastern Samar formally presented the Preliminary Results of the 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) to the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Lawaan. This initiative is part of the PSA’s ongoing commitment to providing relevant, timely, and reliable statistics to support evidence-based policymaking and local governance.

The presentation featured initial findings from the 2024 CBMS, contextualized within the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and included comparative insights from the 2022 LGU-funded CBMS, which covered select barangays in the municipality. Key indicators addressed during the presentation included internet connectivity, perception of safety at night, and access to essential services.

The activity was conducted on 30 July 2025 at the ABC Hall, Lawaan Municipal Hall, and was led by Mr. Nory James L. Apura, Information Systems Analyst II of PSA Eastern Samar. Key LGU officials were in attendance and actively participated in the discussions, particularly on the potential applications of CBMS data in formulating local policies and targeted interventions aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of their constituents.

Furthermore, PSA Eastern Samar provided an overview of upcoming activities, including the 2025 CBMS Convention and Data Festival. The LGU expressed strong interest in participating, particularly in the CBMS Gawad Galing Lokal, with the awarding ceremony scheduled to take place during the said event.
