
In celebration of the 35th Civil Registration Month, the Philippine Statistics Authority – Eastern Samar Provincial Office facilitated and participated in various CRVS-related activities. One such activity was the Training and IEC Campaign on the Barangay Civil Registration System (BCRS), held at the Barangay Hall of Brgy. Poblacion 02, Maydolong, Eastern Samar, on February 20-21, 2025. This two-day event aimed to equip local officials with the knowledge and skills necessary to efficiently and accurately manage civil records, ensure compliance with laws, improve data accuracy, and streamline processes to better serve the public. The training was attended by representatives from 18 of the 20 barangays in the municipality.
Hon. Godofredo T. Garado, Municipal Mayor of Maydolong, formally opened the event with a warm welcome to the facilitators and participants.
Following his address, Ronnie A. Bajado, Chief Statistical Specialist of PSA Eastern Samar, delivered an inspirational talk.
During the training, the attendees were provided with an overview of the civil registration system through the presentation given by Senior Statistical Specialist Randy G. Ador and Supervising Statistical Specialist Suzanne B. Amosco. Registration Officer I Leonardo N. Rañola also elaborated on the importance and uses of civil registration, as well as the basic concepts and procedures. Furthermore, he presented the Barangay Civil Registration System and the duties and responsibilities that barangay officials must uphold in managing and maintaining accurate civil records. The participants were also instructed on how to properly fill out the Certificate of Live Birth (COLB), ensuring correct documentation and compliance with regulations.
Thereafter, the participants were given the opportunity to apply what they had learned through a workshop, during which they presented their outputs and shared
their impressions of the entire activity.
OIC-Municipal Civil Registrar Lorelie C. Voloso then concluded the event with her closing remarks, expressing gratitude to all attendees and lecturers for their active participation and commitment to improving civil registration practices.
