The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Eastern Samar successfully conducted the Training on the 2025 Updating of List of Agricultural Farm Operators and Inland Fishing Households (ULAFO) and the 2025 Listing of Marine Fish Landing Centers (LMFLC) from August 4 to 8, 2025, at Melinda’s Resort and Restaurant in Borongan City, Eastern Samar.

This preparatory activity aims to update the list of agricultural farm operators and inland fishing households, as well as identify and list marine fish landing centers in barangays not covered during the 2022 Census of Agriculture and Fisheries (CAF). The output will serve as a sampling frame for upcoming agricultural surveys, quarterly inland fisheries surveys, and quarterly commercial and municipal fisheries surveys that are critical for generating timely and reliable statistics for planning and policy development.
The training was conducted to equip the hired Team Supervisors and Enumerators with the necessary knowledge and technical skills to carry out the field listing operations across the province of Eastern Samar. Training modules covered essential topics such as the identification and classification of farm operators and fishing households, proper procedures for data collection, accurate listing of marine fish landing centers, and the correct use of prescribed forms. Hands-on activities such as mock interviews were conducted to simulate field scenarios and ensure that participants could apply what they had learned effectively.

The training was facilitated by PSA Eastern Samar personnel, including Statistical Analysts Josefina D. Tybaco and Kimberly Shane B. Anasarias, and PSO Clerk Gil M. Acid Jr., who served as trainers throughout the five-day training. They provided technical guidance and closely monitored the progress of participants during the sessions. The opening program was led by Chief Statistical Specialist Ronnie A. Bajado, who formally welcomed the participants and set the direction for the training activities.

Following the completion of the training, the newly trained field personnel will be deployed to their assigned areas from August 2025 to begin the actual listing operations. The PSA Eastern Samar expects the data collection to be completed within November 2025 and anticipates that the activity will produce accurate and high-quality data that will support the improvement of agricultural and fisheries statistics in the country.
