As a continuing effort to bring its services much closer to the Filipino people, the Philippine Statistics Authority Regional Statistical Services Office (RSSO) VIII in collaboration with PSA Leyte and Local Government Unit and Local Civil Registry Office (LCRO) of Burauen, Leyte, once again had the honor to serve 89 more beneficiaries thru the Birth Registration Assistance Project (BRAP).
PSA delegates Regional Director Wilma A. Perante, PSA Leyte Administrative Officer I, Vianey Marie D. Almia together with Burauen, Leyte Municipal Mayor, Hon. Juanito E. Renomeron distributed the Certificates of Live Birth (COLBs) in Security Paper to all the beneficiaries. Mayor Renomeron gladly shared his appreciation to PSA for the implementation of BRAP in their municipality benefiting those constituents who are not yet registered. PSA Regional Director Perante likewise extended warm thanks to the LCRO of Burauen for their utmost cooperation with BRAP teams in administering the registration of those constituents who were given the chance to finally have copy of their birth documents. She continuously encouraged people to register their births because BRAP waived its requirements especially for late registration of birth by virtue of the Operational Guidelines issued by PSA under Memorandum Circular 2022-15.
Targeting the poorest of the poor, BRAP was implemented in the country to ensure that all births of Filipinos are registered in the Local Civil Registry Offices and that they will be enrolled with PhilSys National Identification System especially in marginalized communities such as those belonging to the Indigenous People and Muslim Filipinos.
