The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - Southern Leyte is currently conducting the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS Geotagging of Service Facilities and Government Projects (SFGP) and the Listing of Building Construction (LoBC) across the entire province. This initiative, which runs from February 24 to April 12, 2025, plays a crucial role in updating geographic and statistical data .
The SFGP aims to geotag essential infrastructures such as schools, health centers, government offices, and government projects. This would ensure that policymakers and stakeholders have reliable data for effective resource allocation and program implementation. Meanwhile, LoBC aims to geotag newly constructed buildings, as supplementary activity to improve the accuracy of the published construction data.
To prepare for this field operation, the CBMS team of PSA Southern Leyte: Supervising Statistical Specialist Elissa P. Carbonilla, Statistical Specialist II Garry E. Lasala and Karrel Ann E. Lapac conducted the Provincial Level Training on SFGP and LoBC from February 24 to 27, 2025, to equip hired personnel with the necessary knowledge and skills for data collection and processing. A total of 16 Map Data Collectors (MDCs), three (3) Team Supervisors (TSs), four (4) Map Data Processors (MDPs), and three (3) Map Data Reviewers (MDRs) were hired for this activity. MDCs have been deployed to their respective areas to geotag service facilities and government projects in the barangays in all municipalities in the province, while MDPs and MDRs are responsible for processing, verifying, and ensuring the accuracy of geotagged data.
The PSA-Southern Leyte urges the public to cooperate with the assigned personnel during data collection. The PSA assures that all gathered information will be used solely for statistical and developmental purposes. This initiative is vital in shaping data-driven policies that will contribute to the province’s progress.
