The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Samar conducted the Groundbreaking Ceremony for its new office building in Barangay Payao, City of Catbalogan, on March 26, 2025. This significant event marks the commencement of an important infrastructure project that will enhance PSA’s ability to deliver public services in Samar.

The ceremony was attended by key officials, including Undersecretary Claire Dennis S. Mapa, the National Statistician and Civil Registrar General, Kristine Joy S. Briones, the Assistant National Statistician for Community-Based Statistics Service, and Honorable Sharee Ann T. Tan, Provincial Governor of Samar. Also present were Wilma A. Perante, Regional Director of PSA Regional Statistical Services Office 7 and 8; Mae R. Almonte, Chief of the Statistical Operations and Coordination Division of PSA RSSO 8; and Riza N. Moraleta, Chief Statistical Specialist of PSA Samar.

The event began with a Welcome Address by Regional Director Wilma A. Perante, who expressed deep appreciation for the unwavering support of all stakeholders involved in the project. She highlighted the significance of the new building, emphasizing that its construction would not only enhance PSA’s operational capacity but also create a more conducive working environment for personnel, ultimately improving the experience for clients.

In his Message, USec Claire Dennis S. Mapa thanked Governor Sharee Ann T. Tan for her generous support in donating 3,000 square meters of land for the PSA Samar building. He underscored the importance of the new facility as a crucial step in enabling the PSA to provide more efficient and effective statistical, national ID, and civil registration services to the people of Samar.

Governor Sharee Ann T. Tan also delivered a Message during the groundbreaking ceremony.

The ceremonial groundbreaking immediately followed with key officials participating in the symbolic act with representatives from various line agencies, local government units, and PSC Members in attendance.
