The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) successfully conducted the 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Data Review and Presentation of Preliminary Results across four municipalities: Silago, Hinunangan, Hinundayan, and San Juan.

This vital activity marks a significant milestone in the implementation of the CBMS, providing local government units (LGUs) with updated, granular, and community-level data to guide planning, policymaking, and targeted interventions.

The data review sessions, held in close coordination with local government units and stakeholders, showcased preliminary results from the 2024 CBMS data collection. These include indicators on poverty, health, education, and access to basic services.

Mayor Lemuel P. Honor of Silago, Mayor Ymard Joseph T. Tocmo of Hinunangan, Mayor Evelyn T. Lee of Hinundayan and Mayor Reynaldo D. Saludo of San Juan together with their planning officers and department heads actively participated in the discussions, validating results and providing insights to ensure data relevance and accuracy.

In his message, Chief Statistical Specialist Eutemio A. Llevado, Jr., emphasized the importance of CBMS as a tool for evidence-based governance.  “Through CBMS, we empower LGUs with reliable data that reflect the real conditions in their communities. This ensures that development efforts are responsive, inclusive, and aligned with national goals.”

The CBMS implementation is in line with Republic Act No. 11315, also known as the Community-Based Monitoring System Act, which mandates the regular collection and use of local-level data for development planning and poverty reduction.

The PSA extends its gratitude to the municipal governments of Silago, Hinunangan, Hinundayan and San Juan, as well as all field personnel, data collectors, and community members who contributed to the success of the CBMS operations. As the process continues, the PSA will work closely with LGUs to finalize and disseminate the results, ensuring their effective use in evidence-based decision-making.
