Laoang, Northern Samar – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Northern Samar Provincial Statistical Office successfully coordinated with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Laoang in a meeting held on 29 April 2025 at the Board Room of Laoang Municipal Hall, to discuss the integration of the National ID System in the municipality.

This initiative is part of the PSA’s continuous efforts to promote seamless service delivery using the National Identification System. The coordination meeting was attended by Honorable Mayor Hector L. Ong, OIC-Municipal Civil Registrar Leo Karl Serrona, Business Permit and Licensing Officer (BPLO) Korina Joy C. Corona, and other municipal staff. Representing the PSA National ID Team were National ID & RO II Lany Lyn B. Magdaraog, ISA I Allen Jay Vista, and Information Officer I Nikka Pajarito.

SS II Wilmar P. Co delivered a message on behalf of CSS Maria Theresa G. Elizalde, emphasizing the importance of onboarding LGU Laoang to the National ID Authentication Services. She expressed optimism that Laoang could become the second municipality in Northern Samar to successfully onboard, following the lead of the first LGU to do so. Honorable Mayor Ong warmly welcomed the PSA team, including regional and national representatives, with four participants joining virtually. He encouraged his staff to listen attentively to the discussions as these could enhance the municipality’s service delivery and operational efficiency. Information Officer Nikka P. Pajarito presented an overview of the National ID features and Issuance related to National ID. The presentation was followed by an open forum and technical discussion led by the General Service Use Case Division (GSUCD) personnel from the PSA Central Office. 

To support the initiative, OIC-MCR Serrona selected Tier 2 for the National ID Authentication Service in Laoang and emphasized the LGU’s commitment to ensuring the municipality’s readiness for onboarding. RO III Marife R. Molon congratulated LGU Laoang for its proactive engagement and assured them of continued PSA support throughout the process.

PSA Northern Samar remains committed to advocating for National ID as a primary tool for verifying identity and facilitating transactions. The agency encourages LGUs, institutions, and offices to adopt and implement the National ID Authentication Services.
