
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - Biliran announces the conduct of the May 2025 Labor Force Survey (LFS). The LFS is a nationwide survey of households conducted by PSA to gather data on the demographic and socio economic characteristics of the population. It aims to measure the distribution of household population 15 years old and over by employment status, to determine various employment characteristics such as industry, class of worker, nature of employment and basis of payment. Results of the survey shall serve as basis for planning, formulation of policies, and implementing programs to create gainful employment, and bolster livelihood opportunities for the Filipinos.
The May 2025 LFS includes rider questions on volunteer work. These rider questions aim to generate reliable volunteerism data in the labor force to reveal more clearly the potential economic impact of volunteer work in which it can be used by policy makers and program managers, both in the public and private sector. Moreover, the results will be used as reference in crafting policies and guidelines that will provide citizens varied areas of opportunities for civic engagement, high levels of voluntary participation, and innovate volunteering infrastructure. Specifically, a Volunteer Work Survey, shall be developed and administered in order to gather relevant volunteering data in the labor force. These rider questions will be asked to all sample household members 15 years old and over.
The data collection period of the May 2025 LFS with rider questions on Volunteer Work will start on 08 May and will end on 28 May 2025. A total of three (3) Statistical Researchers (SRs) were trained with needed skills and knowledge for the field data collection during the Provincial Level Training on 05 to 08 May at PSA Biliran Training Room.
A total of 96 sample households were systematically and randomly selected for the Province of Biliran. The sample households will be visited and enumerated by the hired SRs during the data collection period. The information collected shall be treated with utmost confidentiality as mandated under Section 26 (Confidentiality of Information) of Republic Act No. 10625.
