The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - Biliran Provincial Statistical Office, in partnership with the Department of Education-Schools Division Office of Biliran (DepEd-SDO Biliran) successfully conducted Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Step 2 Registration in all elementary and secondary schools in the province from 21 February 2023 to the last school day of this year. On 14 February 2023, the DepEd-SDO Biliran released Division Memorandum No 054, s. 2023 allowing PSA Biliran to conduct a School-Based PhilSys Registration in all elementary and secondary schools in the province. All PhilSys activities conducted were in accordance with the terms and conditions stipulated on the said memorandum to ensure that the registrants are safe and most importantly, no classes will be disrupted.

PSA Biliran deployed PhilSys Teams who visited and conducted simultaneous registration to all 153 schools to ensure all students, teaching and non-teaching personnel are registered. There was an advanced coordination to School Heads, conduct of classroom-to-classroom orientation on salient features of PhilSys and its benefits and inventory of unregistered students. Since PhilSys registration is not mandatory, PhilSys Form 1A and consent form with brochure was distributed to the students.

As of 29 March 2023, 36 out of 38 schools in the Municipality of Naval were already done with the registration. By April, all kits will be deployed to the schools of the Municipality of Almeria. The school-based PhilSys Registration is one of the initiatives and strategies of the PhilSys to achieve universal coverage and accessibility particularly for all 5 years old and over unregistered students and DepEd personnel.

The office appeals to all parents or guardians to support this endeavor by providing their unregistered student/s the required supporting document upon receiving the Form1A.
