The National ID Team of Southern Leyte conducted a special house-to-house registration on January 25, 2025 in Malapoc Norte, Maasin City, catering to individuals who faced challenges in accessing the standard registration process. Among the registrants were two centenarians, Severino Gura Rejesus and Porferia Tocmo Malasaga, both aged 100 years old, who needed their National IDs for late birth registration purposes.

The initiative underscores the National ID Team’s commitment to ensuring that no Filipino is left behind in the government’s drive for inclusivity and accessibility in the National ID registration process. Recognizing the unique circumstances of the elderly and other residents, the team extended its services by personally visiting their homes. Alongside the two centenarians, the National ID Team also registered 16 other individuals during the activity, bringing the total number of registrants to 18 for the day.

The National ID, implemented under Republic Act No. 11055 or the Philippine Identification System Act, aims to provide a unified and streamlined identification system for all Filipinos, enabling easier access to public and private services. With this house-to-house initiative, National ID continues to uphold its mission to ensure that even the most vulnerable members of society can benefit from this national program.

The successful registration of Severino Gura Rejesus and Porferia Tocmo Malasaga is a testament to the program’s reach and the dedication of its implementers. The National ID Team encourages all residents, especially those who have not yet registered, to participate in the program and secure their National ID, which serves as a valid proof of identity across the country.
