In a significant milestone for civil registration services, Mr. Severino Gura Rejesus, a 100-year-old beneficiary of the Birth Registration Assistance Project (BRAP), was formally awarded his birth certificate in Security Paper (SECPA) format in a simple yet meaningful turnover held in his home in Barangay Malapoc Norte, Maasin City.
Mr. Rejesus’ birth certificate issuance marks an important recognition of the rights of senior citizens and reflects the ongoing commitment of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Southern Leyte and Maasin City Civil Registrar’s Office in ensuring that every Filipino, regardless of age, is documented and recognized.

Present during the awarding were PSA Southern Leyte’s Chief Statistical Specialist Eutemio A. Llevado, Jr., Registration Officer II Faith L. Genovaña, Birth Registration Coordinator Ariel M. Geraldo, and representatives from the Maasin City Civil Registrar’s Office, Ms. Emelyn Balingkit and Mr. Ariel Cortel. Their presence underscored the joint efforts of local stakeholders in reaching even the most senior members of the community.
BRAP aims to register the unregistered and provide official documents to marginalized sectors, particularly senior citizens, indigenous peoples, and those in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas.
The event not only highlighted the success of BRAP’s initiatives but also served as a testament to the enduring importance of civil registration in promoting inclusivity and equal access to government services.
