In a significant step towards ensuring legal identity for all, the Philippine Statistics Authority - Southern Leyte awarded Certificates of Live Birth (COLB) in Security Paper (SECPA) to beneficiaries of the Birth Registration Assistance Program (BRAP) on January 30, 2025, during the launching of the 35th Civil Registration Month in Hinunangan and Silago, Southern Leyte.
A total of 19 beneficiaries in Silago and 23 in Hinunangan received their COLB in SECPA, marking a milestone in their journey toward legal recognition. The awardees expressed joy and gratitude as they finally secured their birth certificates, a crucial document for accessing government services, education, and employment.
The awarding ceremony in Hinunangan was led by PSA-Southern Leyte Chief Statistical Specialist Eutemio A. Llevado Jr., together with Association of Civil Registrars of Southern Leyte (ACReSL) President Victoria B. Calvar and Municipal Vice Mayor Atty. Marian D. Pelin. In Silago, Municipal Mayor Hon. Lemuel P. Honor joined the PSA team in presenting the certificates to the beneficiaries.
PSA-Southern Leyte together with ACReSL remains committed to its mission of ensuring universal and accessible civil registration. Through programs like BRAP, the agency continues to assist individuals in obtaining their legal identity, empowering communities and promoting inclusivity.
