
03 July 2025 –TACLOBAN CITY. In celebration of the 2025 National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM), the Philippine Statistics Authority- Regional Statistical Services Office VIII (PSA-RSSO 8), in partnership with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)- Tacloban, successfully conducted a Basic Life Support (BLS) Training.
The training held at PSA RSSO 8 Training Room in the Gaisano Capital Real, Tacloban City, aimed to enhance the preparedness and emergency response skills of PSA personnel and stakeholders. The BLS course covered essential life-saving procedures, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid techniques for choking and bleeding.
This collaborative initiative aligns with this year’s NDRM theme, " KUMIKILOS para sa Kahandaan, Kaligtasan, at Katatagan", emphasizing the importance of individual and institutional capacity in disaster preparedness and response.
Fire Officer (FO) 3 Allan Brandon A. Obispo, FO 2 Cris V. Rama and FO 2 Carel Mae L. Cui, representatives from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) led the hands-on training sessions, equipping participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills critical during life-threatening emergencies. The PSA recognizes that enhancing the disaster resiliency of its workforce is essential not only to ensure safety in the workplace but also to extend support to communities during crises.
