The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), in coordination with the concerned Local Government Units (LGUs), successfully conducted the 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Data Review and Presentation of Preliminary Results in four municipalities: Libagon, Bontoc, Tomas Oppus, and Malitbog on July 10 and 11, 2025.
The activity served as a platform to validate and ensure the accuracy of data gathered from the household-level CBMS census conducted last year. Preliminary results were presented to key stakeholders, including the newly elected local chief executives, planning officers, and representatives from national, local government agencies, and civil society organizations.
The presentation highlighted critical indicators on health, education, and access to basic services—vital for local development planning, poverty reduction programs, and resource allocation.
Newly-elected Libagon Mayor Oliver Ranque said, "The CBMS empowers us, LGUs, to make data-driven decisions, enabling better-targeted programs and interventions tailored to the specific needs of our communities."
The four municipalities expressed their appreciation for the collaborative effort and committed to utilizing the data in updating their development plans, enhancing social protection initiatives, and aligning local priorities with national goals. Incumbent mayor, Hon. Noel Alinsub of Bontoc, was delighted that CBMS is already completed and soon to be turned over to the LGU for data driven planning and targeting of beneficiaries.
The mayor of Malitbog, Hon. Kenneth Blair Oben, also newly elected, expressed his appreciation to PSA for its efforts in ensuring that LGUs have all the necessary data in all their planning activities.
In Tomas Oppus, MLGOO Atty. Fiona Merquita was deeply grateful that the CBMS is now in place to guide local planners and thanked PSA for a job well done.
The PSA will continue to engage stakeholders in the validation process and is set to release the official CBMS results on 29 July 2025.
