The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Northern Samar Provincial Statistical Office continues its main goal of delivering social services to the public by offering initiatives that ease day-to-day transactions with the government. As part of its efforts, the National ID System was established to facilitate the use of the national ID in various public and private transactions. Several initiatives have been implemented to fully utilize the national ID for verification purposes.
According to the narrative in the Pilot Integration Study, “National ID (NID) Integration is anticipated to have particularly powerful impacts on local government units (LGUs). It is projected to increase efficiency, improve the targeting of goods and services, reduce fraud, and facilitate trust in government”. This is why the integration of the National ID system was introduced, to streamline and enhance government services, particularly at the local level.
Taking this step, coordination meetings were conducted with local governments, as this could assist in the authentication of clients in various transactions. The first meeting was responded by the municipality of San Roque, with Municipal Mayor Abalon, Board Member Don Abalon, MCR Shiela Lagrimas, and BPLO representative in attendance.

The meeting was held at the Mayor’s Office on January 30, 2025. PSA was represented by Senior Statistical Specialist Gina G. Ortego, along with National ID personnel. Registration Officer III Marife R. Molon attended virtually, and three personnel from the Central Office's Use Case Division presenting the onboarding requirements of authentication services for national ID.
Secondly, LGU Catarman actively participated in the coordination meeting for national ID integration. Honorable Mayor Francisco Aurelio E. Rosales III attended the meeting and expressed his full support for establishing national ID authentication services in the municipality. Also present were OIC-MPDC Engr. Maricar Lim and staff from the Mayor’s Office. The meeting took place at the Office of the Mayor on February 3, 2025. During the discussion, Engr. Lim requested a separate meeting to address concerns related to their ongoing system development, which is currently being handled by their contractor.
Thus, both LGUs that participated in the coordination meeting responded positively and expressed their strong commitment to supporting this initiative of the PSA. They recognized the significance of national ID integration in improving public services and acknowledged its potential to enhance the efficiency and security of various transactions. This initiative will greatly benefit their communities by streamlining processes, reducing bureaucratic delays, and providing residents with a more reliable and accessible means of identity verification.
We hope for a positive response from all LGUs in the province regarding this streamlining initiative. Their commitment demonstrates a shared vision of creating a more efficient and inclusive system, ultimately enhancing transaction processes and service delivery for their constituents.
