Maasin City, Philippines – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Southern Leyte, in cooperation with PSA Regional Statistical Services Office Region VIII and the City Government of Maasin, successfully conducted the ceremonial signing of the National ID (NID) Authentication Services Subscription culminating in the comprehensive data review and presentation of the 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) preliminary results on 24 June 2025. This dual event underscored PSA’s commitment to advancing data-driven governance and streamlined digital identity services in the region.

The 2024 CBMS data review and presentation of preliminary results provided an in-depth analysis of socio-economic indicators essential for local planning and policy development. Stakeholders from various sectors, including local government officials, community leaders, and technical experts, attended the review session. This collaborative effort aimed to ensure data accuracy and relevance in addressing the needs of Maasin City's residents.

In tandem with the review, the ceremonial signing of the NID Authentication Services Subscription marked a significant milestone in the City’s digital transformation journey. The signing of the subscription contract included signatories from PSA and LGU Maasin City; Deputy National Statistician Rosalinda P. Bautista, OIC Assistant National Statistician Atty. Henedine P. Palabras, Data Protection Officer Albert J. Maña, and City Councilor Hon. Mikhael Leonardo V. Mercado on behalf of City Mayor Hon. Nacional V. Mercado. The subscription would facilitate the integration of secure and efficient identity verification processes, further enhancing service delivery for residents. Maasin City Civil Registrar Jenny Ang proudly introduced the Records Verification System (RVS), a groundbreaking identity

authentication tool developed by IT staff Mr. Ariel Cortel. By integrating the NID system into civil registry operations, the RVS eliminates the need to manually search through physical records when accessing birth, marriage, and death certificates.

PSA representatives highlighted the synergy between the CBMS and the NID system, emphasizing how these initiatives collectively contribute to inclusive and sustainable development. Hon. Mercado expressed his enthusiasm for the initiatives, recognizing their potential to foster transparency, improve resource allocation, and enhance public service delivery.

The event concluded with a commitment from stakeholders to maximize the use of CBMS data and the National ID system to address local challenges and opportunities effectively.
