The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Biliran announces the conduct of the July 2024 Labor Force Survey (LFS) and 2024 Annual Poverty Indicator Survey (APIS). The LFS is a nationwide survey of households conducted by PSA to gather data on the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population. It aims to measure the distribution of household population 15 years old and over by employment status, to determine various employment characteristics such as industry, class of worker, nature of employment and basis of payment. The July LFS is part of the monthly survey conducted in between the regular quarterly LFS. Results of the survey shall serve as basis for planning, formulation of policies, and implementing programs to create gainful employment, and bolster livelihood opportunities for the Filipinos.

The 2024 APIS, on the other hand, is an annual household survey (except in years when the Family Income and Expenditure Survey is conducted) that can be used to generate non-income-related poverty indicators for monitoring the poverty situation in the country. It also serves as one of the bases for the policies and programs formulation to improve the living conditions of the population. Moreover, data from July 2024 LFS and APIS 2024 will be used to monitor selected indicators for Sustainable Development Goals.

The data collection period of the July 2024 LFS and 2024 APIS started on 08 July and will end on 31 July 2024. A total of 385 sample households were systematically and randomly selected for the Province of Biliran. The sample households will be visited and enumerated by the hired SRs during the data collection period.

In line with this, PSA Biliran enjoins all sample households to support the said undertaking by providing accurate and complete information to the authorized data collectors of PSA.
