22 August 2024 - The Philippine Statistics Authority - Samar conducted an Orientation on the PSA-LGU Data Sharing (PLDS) for Business Register Project (BRP) cum Data Dissemination Forum on the Latest Establishment-Based Statistics at Lucas Wharf Restaurant and Bar, City of Catbalogan. A total of 39 participants from line agencies and LGUs attended the activity.
The Orientation on PLDS-BRP aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the project's objectives, methodologies, and benefits for both PSA and LGUs. Participants gained a deeper understanding of how the PLDS-BRP can contribute to improved business statistics and decision-making at the local and national levels.
The PLDS-BRP is a comprehensive initiative designed to enhance the accuracy and coverage of the Statistical Business Register (SBR). By collecting and matching business registers from city and municipal LGUs with the PSA's List of Establishments (LE), the PLDS-BRP aims to create a more complete and reliable database of businesses operating in the Philippines. This strategy aligns with the modular approach adopted for SBR design, effectively utilizing administrative data to improve the overall quality of business statistics.
This year, PSA started to collect the City/Municipal Local Government Units' Business Registers (LGU-BR) to capture not only establishments, but also other business units not included in the LE but registered in the LGUs Business Permit and Licensing Offices, like those household-based economic units.
