21 January 2025 – EASTERN SAMAR – The National ID registration officially began yesterday in the province of Eastern Samar for 2025, covering the municipalities of Balangiga, Quinapondan, Borongan, Taft, and Oras. In 2024, the National ID registration successfully enrolled 422,846 Filipinos into the National ID system. For 2025, an estimated 71,746 potential registrants in Eastern Samar are expected, based on the 2020 Census of Population.

The National ID mobile registration team has begun the registration process in the municipalities mentioned and will continue in other municipalities across the province. The focus of this registration is primarily on enrolling children under five years old, as well as individuals aged five and above who have not yet registered in the National ID system.

The registration process is quick, simple, and child-friendly. It involves capturing the child’s demographic details, taking a front-facing photo, and linking the child’s PhilSys Card Number (PCN) to their legal guardian for authentication, ensuring a smooth experience for both the child and the guardian.

Before deploying the teams, a refresher training was conducted to update and reinforce their knowledge of the National ID registration process and services. This training, which aimed to enhance service reliability, was attended by both National ID office-based and field personnel and took place at the PSA office on December 27, 2024.

The National ID mobile registration will continue in other municipalities within the province. Additionally, a fixed PSA-based registration center is available to serve clients from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The center, located at PSA Office, JB Japzon Bldg., Circumferential Road, Brgy. Balud, Borongan, Eastern Samar, offers National ID registration, as well as services such as updating demographic information, printing National IDs in paper form, and assisting with downloading the digital National ID.
