The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Northern Samar Provincial Statistical Office kicks-off the official start of Mobile Registration for National Identification System in Northern Samar, set to begin on 20 January 2025. As of December 31, 2024, the province registered a total of 593,031 individuals. For this year, the 2025 potential registrants based on the 2020 Census of Population and Housing will be 60,990 from January – March 2025. To meet this target, every team will be composed of one (1) registration kit operator and one (1) registration assistant for a total of five (5) teams to be deployed across municipalities in Northern Samar to ensure that eligible residents are able to register for National ID.

The field registration will include the collection of biometric data, such as fingerprints, iris scans, and photographs, as well as demographic information, which will be used to issue a valid and official National ID. National ID field personnel will be stationed in strategic locations within each municipality, making the registration process accessible to a wide range of residents. The registration is free of charge, and individuals who wish to register are encouraged to bring a valid government-issued ID or other documents that will serve as proof of identity.

Furthermore, to prepare the registration personnel on the deployment, a “Refresher Training on National ID Frontline Services” was conducted on 16-17 January 2025 at Training Room, PSA Provincial Statistical Office, Catarman.

The training was administered by Registration Officer II Lany Lyn B. Magdaraog and Information Systems Analyst I Allen Jay Vista to discuss salient topics related to registration and its technical features of national ID.

The fixed registration center started its operation last 02 January 2025 assigning one (1) RKO and one (1) RA to accommodate the clients or registrants visiting the registration center. To meet the above-mentioned target for January-March 2025, registration strategies are encouraged to field registration personnel such as school-based registration, “rehistro bulilit” or registration of children aged 0-4 years old, and co-location activities to requesting parties or agencies.

Thus, residents are urged to follow updates on the exact dates and registration sites within their municipalities wherein registration field personnel will be deployed. A smooth and orderly process will be maintained to ensure that everyone who wishes to register can do so without delay. Additionally, the office reiterates the protection and management of personal data being collected in accordance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (DPA).
