SOGOD, SOUTHERN LEYTE – 14 July 2025 – In a significant step towards strengthening evidence-based governance and inclusive development, the municipality of Sogod formally received its 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) during the first-ever CBMS Data Turnover Ceremony held at the Municipal Conference Room.
The ceremonial turnover marks the official completion of data collection, processing, and validation activities under the CBMS program in the locality, enabling the Local Government Unit (LGU) to utilize up-to-date and granular data for targeted planning, budgeting, and program implementation.
Vice-Mayor Jose Ramil G. Golo, in his message, expressed appreciation to the PSA and all stakeholders for the successful conduct of the CBMS. “With the CBMS data now in our hands, we are better equipped to understand the real needs of our communities and to craft policies that are responsive and inclusive,” the vice-mayor said.
Mr. Eutemio A. Llevado, Jr., Chief Statistical Specialist of PSA Southern Leyte, presented the highlights of the CBMS results and led the formal turnover emphasizing the importance of data in driving sustainable local development. “The CBMS provides LGUs with a reliable tool to monitor poverty and other key development indicators down to the barangay level,” he said.
Republic Act 11315 or the CBMS Act which was signed into law on 17 April 2019, mandated the PSA to lead its implementation, in partnership with the Department of Interior and Local Development (DILG) and the Department of Information, Communication, and Technology (DICT), aimed at collecting household- and community-level data to support evidence-based decision-making.
The turnover ceremony was attended by members of the Sangguniang Bayan, department heads of the LGU, CBMS Team of PSA Southern Leyte, and other local stakeholders.
With this turnover, Sogod becomes the first LGU in Eastern Visayas to officially receive its 2024 CBMS datasets for use in local governance and development planning.
