PBRAP IN ACTION: CONTINUING REGISTRATION OF UNREGISTERED BIRTHS IN THE PROVINCE OF LEYTE AND CITY OF TACLOBAN

The Philippine Statistics Authority – Leyte Provincial Statistical Office (PSA Leyte), through its PhilSys Birth Registration Assistance Project (PBRAP) Team, was able to assist to eight (8) Mobile Civil Registrations for the month of April 2023, in the Municipalities of Tanauan, Tolosa, Capoocan and the City of Baybay, in collaboration with their Local Civil Registry Offices (LCROs), which facilitated the preparation of Certificates of Live Birth of the identified individuals whose births remained unregistered to date. During this leg, the foregoing Agents were able to prepare 140 sets of Certificate of Live Birth for its subsequent delayed registration at the LCROs corresponding to the registrants’ place of birth.

Since February 2023, the PSA Leyte PBRAP Team were able to assist to a total of 29 Mobile Civil Registrations additionally at the Municipalities of Dulag, MacArthur, Albuera, Matag-ob, Alangalang, Jaro, and Calubian, and the Cities of Ormoc and Tacloban. Prospectively, PSA Leyte is set to join more Mobile Civil Registrations through the headship of the Local Government Units and their respective LCROs.

This ongoing and worthwhile collaboration between the PSA and the LGUs aimed at registering unregistered births in the Province of Leyte, and Tacloban City, is brought about by the PhilSys Birth Registration Assistance Project (PBRAP) which was first launched last 2022 by the Philippine Statistics Authority, which aims to “Get every Juan and Juana in the picture”.
