
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Samar, in coordination with the Local Civil Registrar Office of Pagsanghan, Samar, officially launched the 35th Civil Registration Month with series of activities held at the Pagsanghan Municipal Covered Court, on 07 February 2025. The celebration emphasized the vital role of civil registration in establishing individuals' legal identities and ensuring access to essential government services. This year's theme, “Building a Resilient, Agile, and Future-fit Civil Registration and Vital Statistics System,” underscores the importance of a robust and adaptable CRVS system in addressing present and future challenges.
The event started with a motorcade, marking the official start of the month-long initiative. Municipal Mayor Hon. Sed Hendrix C. Tan delivered his welcome message, emphasizing the role of civil registration in securing legal identity and improving public service access.
The program featured an audiovisual presentation of the CRVS Jingle, reinforcing the importance of the Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) system. Riza N. Moraleta, Chief Statistical Specialist of PSA Samar, highlighted the agency’s commitment to efficient and accessible civil registration. Then, Aimee M. Adona, CRS Outlet Supervisor of PSA Catbalogan gave an IEC session on RA 11909 and civil registration memorandums. While Noiwen A. Getigan, Registration Officer I, provided updates on the National ID system, urging residents to register for streamlined identity verification and enhanced service delivery. Additionally, Hassam Ray Nablo, Information Officer I of PSA Samar, presented the 2023 Vital Statistics of Samar Province, providing key insights into demographic trends and civil registration data crucial for policy planning and service enhancement.
National ID Registration and the Mobile Civil Registration System were among the essential services provided as part of the launching. The event successfully processed a total of 435 Security Paper (SECPA) documents and assisted 279 clients. Furthermore, the National ID Registration recorded 16 registrants, comprising 5 children aged 0-4 years and 11 individuals aged 5 years and above, including registrants aged 85 years and 65 years. These services aimed to enhance accessibility and efficiency in civil registration for all residents.
The event concluded with closing remarks from Lucylda G. Bato, Municipal Civil Registrar of Pagsanghan, Samar, who expressed her gratitude to all attendees and reaffirmed PSA’s commitment to maintaining accurate, complete, and accessible civil registration records.
Consequently, an Information Dissemination Campaign on Civil Registration Month was conducted at Pagsanghan National High School. The initiative sought to educate students and faculty about the significance of civil registration, its legal implications, and the benefits of accurate and timely documentation of vital events.
