The Philippine Statistics Authority – Regional Statistical Services Office VIII (PSA - RSSO 8) will conduct the 2024 Occupational Wages Survey (OWS) simultaneously with the 2023/2024 Integrated Survey on Labor and Employment (ISLE) on 16 September to 31 December 2024.  The OWS-ISLE is a nationwide establishment-based survey conducted by PSA every two (2) years.  Both surveys adopted the same sample designs (i.e., establishments employing 10 or more workers), in the conduct of its field operations.  About 447 establishments in the region will serve as respondents of the two (2) surveys.  The mode of data collection will be through face-to-face, telephone/online interview, or self-administered questionnaire.  The simultaneous conduct is being implemented for cost efficiency and to lessen respondents’ burden.

The 2024 OWS aims to generate wage statistics as critical inputs to policies on wage/salary determination and administration, particularly in wage-fixing, price policies, and collective bargaining negotiations. It determines inequalities among and between low-wage occupation and high-wage occupation workers.  The survey results will also provide inputs to the Special Data Dissemination Standard of the International Monetary Fund.  The major data items to be collected by the 2024 OWS include: 1) Occupational Wages Rates (Basic Pay and Allowances) of Time-Rated Workers on Full-Time; 2) Basis in Selected Occupations in Selected Industries; 3) Number of Time-Rated Workers on Full-Time Basis; and 4) Total Basic Pay and Total Allowance of All Time-Rated Workers on Full-Time Basis.

The 2023/2024 ISLE aims to generate an integrated data set on employment of specific worker groups, occupational shortages and surpluses, job-related training of workers, occupational safety and health practices, occupational injuries and diseases, and productivity improvement programs and gainsharing practices. These data serve as inputs in the formulation of policies and programs on employment, work conditions, and industrial relations; contribute to Sustainable Development Goal 8 on economic growth and decent work; support studies on industry trends; and assess the progress of decent work in the country.

The PSA enjoins sample-establishments to support the 2024 OWS - 2023/2024 ISLE by providing truthful information to authorized PSA Statistical Researchers who will visit them to distribute and collect questionnaires to/from establishments and conduct interview.

The Office adheres and commits to the confidentiality of information as stipulated in Section 26 of RA 10625 and Section 8 of RA 10173. All data obtained herein shall be held strictly confidential, and will not be used for taxation, investigation or law enforcement purposes.
