After its creation, by virtue of Republic Act 10625, “An Act reorganizing the Philippine Statistical System”, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) will mark its 10th Year Anniversary on 12 September 2023. To spur the month-long celebration, PSA RSSO VIII kicked-off with its Anniversary Exhibit and Grand Caravan on 08 September 2023 joined by different government agencies and private entities. The event was escorted by the personnel of the Traffic Operations Management Enforcement and Control Office (TOMECO) and with the upfront guarding of the Philippine National Police Region VIII as the parade goes enroute the main thoroughfares of Tacloban City.
The Exhibit was formally opened and the cutting of the ribbon was initiated by special guest and Keynote Speaker from the academe in the person of Dr. Dennis C. De Paz, University President of the Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) and assisted by PSA RSSO VIII Regional Director, Wilma A. Perante, Ms. Anesia S. Babante, Chief, Civil Registration and Administrative Services Division (CRASD), Mr. Malcolm James Ching of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Tacloban and Ms. Elvira C. Torres, Assistant Regional Director for Research and Regulations of the Department of Agriculture Region VIII.
Director Perante warmly welcomed all attendees and full workforce especially the PSA’s Chief Statistical Specialists, namely; Sheryl Ann A. Jamisola of Leyte, Renavil V. Cueva.
of Biliran and Eutemio A. Llevado of Southern Leyte. She thanked everyone for coming together to celebrate that despite the many years of challenges it is such a remarkable achievement to have risen stronger to continue the services of PSA. She added that all the struggles and limitations posed by the aftermath of Super Typhoon Yolanda propelled PSA to implore ways and innovations to recover. On the other hand, Dr. De Paz took PSA to the pedestal and commended PSA RSSO VIII for its committed service standing its ground with much resilience and dedication. The program likewise showcased a decade of excellence captured in an Audio-Visual Presentation as the agency remained to be one of the Top Performers and Awardees to the PSA Field Awards. The talented employees of PSA entertained the crowd through various intermission numbers. In closing, Ms. Zonia C. Alazar, OIC-Chief of the Statistical Operations and Coordination Division (SOCD) congratulated the entire PSA family and guests for the successful conduct of the activity.
Part of the celebration is the Roll-Out of the PhilSys Co-location at the Census Serbilis (CRS) Tacloban City Outlet located at the 2nd Floor of the Gaisano Central, Real Street, Tacloban City set to further strengthen the goal of registering the populace in the region.
