HIGHLIGHTS OF THE 2015 CENSUS RESULTS FOR THE MUNICIPALITY OF CAPOOCAN

 

Total population of Capoocan as of 2015 is 33,617

The municipality of Capoocan has a total population of 33,617 as of August 1, 2015 based from the results of the 2015 Census of Population. It was higher by 3,783 persons as compared to 29,834 total count in 2010 and higher by 6,024 persons from its total count of 27,593 in 2000.

Its population in 2015 comprised 1.9 percent of the total population of Leyte (excluding Tacloban City). It grew at the rate of 2.30 percent annually from 2010 to 2015, which is higher by 1.51 percentage point from its population growth rate in 2000 to 2010 of 0.78 percent.

The household population of Capoocan totaled to 33,617 persons in 2015, which is 13.2 percent higher than its count in 2010 at 29,689 persons. 100 percent of the total populations of Capoocan in 2015 are household population.

The number of households in 2015 reached 7,332, higher by 1,159 households from 6,173 in 2010. The average household size in Capoocan slightly declined from 4.8 in 2010 to 4.6 in 2015.

The estimated total land area of Capoocan was 185.40 square kilometers as per data from the Land Management Bureau of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. The resulting population density in 2015 posted at 181 persons per square kilometer, higher than in 2000 and 2010 at 149 and 161 persons per square kilometer, respectively.

Of the 21 barangays of Capoocan, Barangay Poblacion Zone II registered the biggest population with 4,731 persons in 2015 or 14.1 percent of the municipality’s total population. The remaining barangays which completed the top 10 barangays in terms of population were Pinamopoan (3,010), Culasian (2,957), Balud (2,835), Lemon (2,783), Poblacion Zone I (2,348), Cabul-an (1,955), Balucanad (1,621), Visares (1,507), and San Joaquin (1,466). These barangays also recorded with the highest number of households in the municipality in 2015.

Meanwhile, Barangay Nauguisan recorded the smallest population in 2015 with 359 persons which accounted 1.1 percent of the total population of Capoocan. The remaining barangays which completed the bottom 10 barangays in terms of population were Balugo (369), Talisay (642), Guinadiongan (649), Manloy (693), Tolibao (708), Gayad (763), Potot (853), Talairan (943), and Libertad (1,136).

The top three (3) fastest growing barangays of Capoocan in terms of population growth rate from 2010 to 2015 were Balugo (8.27 percent), Manloy (6.61 percent) and Lemon (5.29 percent). The rest of the barangays which completed the top 10 fastest growing barangays were Guinadiongan, Santo Niño, Tolibao, Libertad, Culasian, Talisay and Poblacion Zone II with PGRs ranging from 2.26 percent to 4.50 percent.
