Leyte’s inflation rate increased by 0.4 percentage point, from 5.9 percent in September 2022 to 6.3 percent in October 2022. Meanwhile, the region’s inflation rate also increased by 0.5 percentage point in the reference period, from 6.9 percent in September 2022 to 7.4 percent in October 2022. Tacloban City’s inflation rate continuously declined at 4.2 percent in August 2022. It fell off by 1.0 percentage point, from 5.2 percent in July 2022. The gap between Tacloban City and Leyte’s inflation rate has been increasing as Tacloban City’s inflation rate continuously dropped. It is significantly lower by 2.5 percentage points compared with Leyte’s inflation rate of 6.7 percent during the same month. Among the provinces and HUC in Eastern Visayas, Northern Samar, Leyte, and Southern Leyte manifested a decrease in their inflation rates in August 2022. Leyte’s inflation rate declined by 0.5 percentage point, from 7.2 percent in July 2022to 6.7 percent in August2022. Meanwhile, the region’s inflation rate also dropped by 0.3 percentage point in the reference period, from 7.5 percent in July 2022 to 7.2 percent in August 2022. Among all provinces and HUC in the region, Eastern Samar, Western Samar, and Biliran are the only provinces that manifested an increase in their respective inflation rates in August 2022. Tacloban City’s inflation rate fell off at 5.2 percent in July 2022 from 5.8 percent in June 2022. This was the first drop in Tacloban City’s inflation rate since its increasing trend in April 2022. It is still relatively higher compared to its inflation rate during the same period last year at 3.5 percent. The gap between Tacloban City’s and Leyte’s inflation rates has widened after Leyte posted a slight increase at 7.2 percent during the reference month. Tacloban City is the only one which registered a decrease in its inflation rate among all the provinces and HUC in Eastern Visayas in July 2022. Leyte’s inflation rate slightly hiked at 7.2 percent in July 2022 from 7.0 percent in June 2022. This is the highest recorded inflation rate of the province this year. It is relatively higher compared to the inflation rate during the same month last year at 3.7 percent. Meanwhile, the region’s inflation rate significantly increased at 7.5 percent during July 2022. This was also the highest recorded inflation rate in the region this year. All provinces in Eastern Visayas recorded an increase in their respective inflation rates except for its lone HUC - Tacloban City. Leyte had the third highest inflation rate after Northern Samar with 10.1 percent and Southern Leyte at 9.8 percent. Leyte’s inflation rate escalated further at 7.0 percent in June 2022 from 6.7 percent in May 2022. This is the highest recorded inflation rate of the province this year. During the same month last year, inflation rate is relatively lower at 3.3 percent. Meanwhile, the region’s inflation rate also continuously rose at 6.8 percent during June 2022 from its 6.3 percent in May 2022. This was also the highest recorded inflation rate in the region this year. Among all provinces and HUC in Eastern Visayas, Leyte had the third highest inflation rate after Southern Leyte and Northern Samar. Southern Leyte was the only province which recorded a decline in its inflation rate compared to its previous month’s rate.
