Total number of approved building constructions in Leyte significantly increased to 750 in the fourth quarter of 2018

The total number of approved building constructions during the fourth quarter of 2018 significantly increased by 79 percent posted at 750 from 419 constructions during the same quarter in 2017.

 

All types of building constructions in Leyte increased during the reference quarter. Residential type of building constructions substantially rose to 513, more than double compared with the 200 applications reported a year ago. This increment was attributed to the significant increases in all types of residential constructions. Similarly, consolidated number of additions, alterations and repairs of existing structures went up by 19.2 percent, from 78 applications during the fourth quarter of 2017 to 93 applications during the reference quarter. Meanwhile, non-residential type of building constructions likewise increased to 144 from 141 applications in 2017.

 

Total value of construction in the province during the reference quarter reached P1.5 billion. This indicates a slight increase of 0.1 percent, from the P1.4 billion during the same period of 2017.

 

Aside from the increase in number, the total value of residential type of building constructions significantly climbed to P794 million during the reference quarter. This value was about three times higher compared with P254 million during the fourth quarter in 2017. Correspondingly, consolidated value for additions, alterations and repairs of existing structures increased by 94.8 percent, from P45 million to P88 million during the fourth quarter in 2018.

 

Of all types of building constructions, only non-residential type declined during the reference quarter. The value was recorded at P569 million, down by 50.5 percent from P1.1 billion during the fourth quarter of previous year. //
