FARMGATE PRICES OF CEREALS

     Average farmgate prices of Palay Other Variety, dry during the fourth quarter of 2020 was recorded at P16.72 per kilogram which is lower by 4.35 percent compared with the average farmgate price of P17.48 per kilogram during the same quarter of 2019.

 

 

FARMGATE PRICES OF ROOTCROPS

     General average farmgate prices of rootcrops in the Province decreased during the fourth quarter of 2020. Sweet potato reported the highest decline by 12.22 percent from P25.21 per kilogram to P22.13 per kilogram while Cassava fresh tubers for food decreased by 1.01 percent from P15.81 per kilogram to P15.65 per kilogram.

     On the other hand, Gabi Cebu for ginataan reported an average farmgate price of P23.65 per kilogram during the fourth quarter of 2020. This posted an increase of 9.34 percent from P21.63 per kilogram during the fourth quarter of 2019.

 

 

FARMGATE PRICES OF CONDIMENTS

     Ginger Hawaiian registered an average farmgate price of P42.62 per kilogram during the fourth quarter of 2020. This figure is 35.41 percent lower compared with P65.99 per kilogram during the same quarter of 2019.

     Similarly, red and green pepper bell, posted a decline of 7.78 percent in its average farmgate price from P82.00 per kilogram to P75.62 per kilogram.

 

FARMGATE PRICES OF FRUIT VEGETABLES

     Higher average farmgate prices were noted for fruit vegetables in the Province during the fourth quarter of 2020. This can be attributed to the increase in the average farmgate prices of Eggplant long purple by 10.35 percent from P32.57 per kilogram to P35.94 per kilogram and of Ampalaya by 7.13 percent from P48.37 per kilogram to 51.82 per kilogram.

     Meanwhile, average farmgate prices of Squash and Tomato posted a decline of 10.52 percent and 8.13 percent, respectively.

 

 

FARMGATE PRICES OF LEAFY VEGETABLES

     During the fourth quarter of 2020, provincial average farmgate price of Pechay native was recorded at P36.95 per kilogram, slightly lower by 0.35 percent from P37.08 per kilogram during the same quarter of 2019.

 

FARMGATE PRICES OF FRUITS

     General average farmgate prices of fruits in the Province was higher during the fourth quarter of 2020. Banana Saba green and Banana Latundan green both posted an increase of 35.27 percent and 35.13 percent, respectively. 

     In contrast, Calamansi observed a 17.29 percent decrease in its average farmgate price from P36.96 per kilogram during the fourth quarter of 2019 to P30.57 per kilogram during the same quarter of 2020.

 

 

FARMGATE PRICES OF COMMERCIAL CROPS

      Abaca reported lower average farmgate prices during the fourth quarter of 2020 at P46.67 per kilogram. This posted a decline of 10.42 percent compared to its average farmgate price of P52.10 per kilogram during the fourth quarter of 2019. Average farmgate price of coconut matured also declined by 4.58 percent from P8.07 per kilogram to P7.70 per kilogram.

 

     Copra corriente, on the other hand, exhibited higher average farmgate prices during the fourth quarter of 2020 by 70.86 percent from P16.47 per kilogram to P28.14 per kilogram.

 

FARMGATE PRICES OF LIVESTOCK AND POULTRY

     Average farmgate price of hogs upgraded for slaughter recorded an average farmgate price of P111.25 per kilogram during the fourth quarter of 2020 which is 3.77 percent lower than its average farmgate price of P115.61 per kilogram during the same quarter of 2019.

     Similarly, chicken native/improved posted a decline of 3.62 percent in its average farmgate price from P165.16 per kilogram to P159.18 per kilogram.     

Both animals were reported to be from backyard farms.

 

 

 

EXPLANATORY NOTES

 

FARM PRICES SURVEY (FPS) is a nationwide survey that collects data on farmgate or producer’s prices received by the farmers for their produce. It is the farmers’ selling price for their produce at the first point of sale excluding transportation or delivery fee.

The purpose/objective of this survey is to gather reliable price information at the farm level specifically to: 

• Generates estimates on farmgate prices of major agricultural commodities, commercial livestock and chicken layers. 
• Develop sets of price indices and to measure the purchasing power of growers of selected agricultural products. 
• Analyze the seasonal trends and variations in agricultural prices. 
• Serve as input for forecasting future supply, demand and prices of agricultural commodities. 
• Assist policy makers in the formulation, implementation and administration of economic programs. 
• Guide farmers/raisers in their decision making relative to their agricultural activities geared towards improvement of their profitability. 

Farmgate Price is the price received by farmers, livestock and poultry raisers for the sale of their produce, at the first point of sale, net of freight cost.
