The Philippine Statistics Authority – Regional Statistical Service Office VIII (PSA – RSSO 8) conducted the 1st Scrap Stats: 30th National Statistics Month (NSM) Poster Making Contest on 30 September 2019 at Robinsons North Activity Area, Abucay, Tacloban City.
A total of ten (10) teams have registered on or before 23 September 2019, however, the team from Basey National High School backed out the last minute; hence, only nine (9) teams competed in the contest.
The Scrap Stats, the first in the region, is a poster making contest with the use of scraps/recyclable materials. It aims to promote awareness and appreciation of the National Statistics Month (NSM) celebration, and encourage the public to recycle and be more actively involved in protecting the environment. The main theme of the contest is “Data Innovation: Key to a Better Nation.” All poster entries illustrated, interpreted and emphasized the theme of the 30th NSM Celebration.
All entries were initially judged by the Board of Judges using the following criteria:
Creativity and concept 30%
Originality and innovation 30%
Relevance to the theme 30%
Pictures of the poster entries were uploaded in the official Facebook page of PSA – RSSO 8 and voting has officially opened yesterday, 1 October 2019. Total number of Facebook likes, which comprises 10% of the total score, will be accounted by the NSM Secretariat (PSA – RSSO 8) on 18 October 2019, 5:00 PM.
The first placer will receive P3,000.00, while the 2nd and 3rd placers will get P2,000.00 and P1,000.00, respectively.
Winners will be announced and awarded during the 30th NSM Closing Ceremony on 30 October 2019 at Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, San Jose, Tacloban City. Certificate of Participation will be given to the non-winners.
