The Philippine Statistics Authority – Regional Statistical Service Office VIII (PSA – RSSO 8) is set to conduct a Data Dissemination Forum on National Disability Prevalence Survey (NDPS) or also called the Model Functioning Survey (MFS). The forum will be at Ironwood Hotel, Tacloban City on 10 December 2019 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
The NDPS/MFS is the first ever nationwide disability prevalence survey conducted in the Philippines last November to December 2016 with around 11,000 sample households. It was anchored on the Model Disability Survey (MDS) developed by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Bank (WB).
NDPS/MFS is a general population survey that provides detailed and nuanced information on the interaction between health and the environment. Likewise, it collects comprehensive information on the needs of persons with different disability levels as well as on the barriers and inequalities they face.
The NDPS/MFS aimed to estimate the prevalence of disability; determine the current disability distribution of the population; identify needs, barriers and inequalities faced by persons with different levels of disability; and provide information necessary for the development of policy priorities to improve the lives of the population with disability.
