Gradual roll-out of PhilSys Biometric Capturing starts in Tacloban City

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) started the Step 2 Registration for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) last 02 February 2021 in Tacloban City on a gradual and small-scale basis to ensure safety of the PhilSys registrants as well as registration staff. The first Registration Center for biometric capturing opened is located at Tacloban North City Hall, Barangay Kawayan, Tacloban City. It has already provided 302 registrants with permanent identification number or PhilSys number (PSN) as of 06 February 2021. 

Step 2 registration includes the validation of supporting documents and capturing the registrants’ biometric information such as fingerprint biometrics, iris scan, and front-facing photograph.

All registrants who will visit the Registration Center are reminded to bring original copy of the supporting documents and their appoint reference number or appointment slip.

Meanwhile, registrants will be contacted for their new scheduled appointment date for Step 2 Registration in coordination with the local government units.

Gradual roll-out of Registration Centers for Step 2 is being done to optimize the process and ensure that registration is being delivered in a safe, secure, and seamless PhilSys for all Filipinos.

Further, PSA has partnered with Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) and implemented colocation strategy in line with the need to for financial inclusivity of Filipinos especially those from lowest income households. This is to provide opportunity for the target registrants to access financial services such as receiving financial subsidies and benefits from the government through the opening of a bank account in parallel with PhilSys registration.

The PSA strengthens the implementation of the safe and heath protocols in light of the new COVID-19 variant such as temperature reading, wearing of face mask and face shield, physical distancing, proper hygiene and sanitation, and QR code scanning.
